Padel is a dynamic racquet sport that was invented in Mexico in 1969. Enrique Corcuera, a Mexican businessman, is credited as the inventor. Due to limited space on his property, he modified his squash court, integrated elements of platform tennis, and named the new game “Paddle Corcuera”.

The sport quickly gained popularity in Spanish-speaking countries. In 1974, Alfonso de Hohenlohe, a friend of Corcuera, introduced padel in Spain by building the first two courts at his tennis club in Marbella.

In the 1980s, padel spread to Argentina, where it became a national phenomenon. Today, padel is one of the fastest-growing sports worldwide, with millions of players and thousands of courts.
