The history of
padel tennis

Padel is a dynamic racket sport that originated in Mexico in 1969. Enrique Corcuera, a Mexican businessman, is considered its inventor. Due to a lack of space on his property, he modified his squash court, integrated elements of platform tennis, and named the new game “Paddle Corcuera.”

The sport quickly gained popularity in Spanish-speaking countries. In 1974, Alfonso de Hohenlohe, a friend of Corcuera’s, introduced padel to Spain by building the first two courts at his tennis club in Marbella.

In the 1980s, padel spread to Argentina, where it became a national phenomenon. Today, padel is one of the fastest-growing sports worldwide, with millions of players and thousands of courts.

Padel is like tennis with walls, but it’s much more fun—and you don’t have to be Federer to play like a pro! 😋
